Introduction: Who was Galileo Gallilei

Galileo Gallilei was a famous astronomer and physicist during the late 1500's and early 1600s. He went to the University of Piza, Italy where he studied medicine. But something that really sparked his interest in the science world was a swinging lamp he saw overhead, his first expirement consisted of timing the large sings and small swings and see the difference of the time, but all the swings were the same and this led to the law of pendulum which instantly made him famous. As he studied more in science and mathematics he later discovered other laws of phycics that included that things of different wieght fall at the same time. But the discovery that we weren't the center of the universe let him to a lot of controversy. He proved that Aristotle, a greek philosofer, was wrong about us being the center of the universe and copernicus, a polish astronomer was right, because when he used his telescope he saw that Venus had phases that meant it moved as well, and he saw moons revolve around Jupiter. Though he was put into house arrest because of his ideas, he was right and he had lots of proof to show to others.

Moon Observations:

Moon1._MM
The moon cycle consits og going from new moon to new moon. Here we have a first quarter in spectrum filter.
Moon_Craters_M.M
Galileo discovere that the moon was not a perfect sphere, because there are craters!!!

Jupiter and it's moons:

JupiterandmoonsM.M
The image in the middle is Jupiter and since the telescope was open too long, a lot of light went in, but you can see 3 circles...those are Jupiters moons which Galileo found.

Saturn's Rings:

SaturnM.M
Here we see Saturn, though its not so clear but its rings are the reason it looks circular.

Sunspots on the Sun:

Spots)_M.M
Here we see the three sun spots at the far right, and in the backround you can see some tree branches

Venus has phases?

Venus has phases like the moon. Here is an image of a full Venus.
